The Scourge of Kanethar
Designer’s Note: I see the Dryads as being truly alien and foreign. They don’t have a hierarchy as the ‘meat races’ would understand it – decisions are made by consensus. I like the idea of them communicating with each other by some unspoken language, almost like telepathy, so no one really knows what’s going on in their heads. They can still talk to others, but it’s an awkward experience for everyone – likely causing them to have the Outsider Hindrance.
As far as other races are concerned, the “Trunks” are the leaders of a “Grove,” but they’re really more like spokesmen for the whole.
Ideas like “territory” and “property” are foreign to dryads – they only adopt the concept in dealing with other races. They don’t exclude other races from any part of Blackwood (and reserve the right to roam where they will), but as part of their peace treaty, the Zikiri know that past a certain point in the forest (defined by a stream or some other set of natural features) it is worth their lives to chop down a tree without approval.
